Welcome to Day 32 of 31 Days of A Sense of Place. The month is over, but since I’m having such a good time in Middlebury, VT, I thought I’d make today’s post another field trip.
Middlebury has a definite sense of place, derived from its central town green criss-crossed by walkways, a thriving downtown (art galleries, restaurants and cafes, indie bookstore, stationery/art supply store, old-fashioned 5&10, public library, cinema, community arts center, several churches, clothing and gift shops, etc.), a liberal arts college on the edge of town, attempts to make the town pedestrian- and bike-friendly, Otter Creek (a river that runs through town), and The Trail Around Middlebury (TAM), an 18-mile trail through woods, fields (some with cows), and on roads that encircles the town — and which I thoroughly enjoy.
First, the town:
And the trails:
And finally, some amazing landscapes this afternoon:
Thanks again for joining me in reliving my weekend in Middlebury.
